If players were allowed to play Sir Isaac Newton, then they would bring all sorts of baggage and assumptions of what they could do with him. In our setting, Newton would be a expertly skilled mathemagician, and probably an alchemist and a mage (he did write on such matters extensively). He would probably be better at these things than a starting character would.
